My March Memories

March 2016

These are the memories I want to share

firstly

with my family overseas,

and also with you my dear blog readers,

a few little snippets

 of our life over the past month.

We attended a wonderful celebration for

the marriage of

Claudia and James

on

12 March 2016.

That was the same day as my husband's birthday

so a double celebration for us!

I am behind with my visits to your blogs

 however, at last I have a

relatively free weekend, 

so I'll be over to see you in the next day or so!

Last Thursday I joined two friends for lunch at

 Little Jimmy's

a new cafe at Greenwood's Corner

to celebrate my recent birthday.

On the way home this brick wall caught my eye

and I couldn't resist stopping

to take a few photos.

Views of Auckland Waterfront

With the lovely weather over Easter
we visited the waterfront and viaduct harbour.
There were a few clouds about
but with the temperature at 28°C
we had an enjoyable walk.

It's now early Autumn and in a month or two
the days will start to draw in.
This weekend on Sunday 3rd April
Daylight Saving finishes.......
I'm thankful for such a magnificent summer
it has truly been one out of the box!

~Happy Easter~

Happy Easter

dear friends!

Easter Sunday has been

a beautiful early Autumn day of 26 degrees C here.

As most of you know both our children

are living overseas....

it's at special times like Easter and Christmas

that we miss them the most.

We've just had a long conversation on the phone

with our daughter and granddaughters in France, 

before they attend

the Easter service at the Cathedral.

We're hoping by this time next year they will

be with us for Easter in New Zealand!

I can hardly wait!

I hope you all enjoy your day with

City Fences

I took these photos with my phone

on a stunning late summer afternoon.

We are seeing more and more security gates

protecting homes and the people who live in them.

Sadly it's the inevitable result of increasing population

and higher density housing

in a growing city of 1.7 million people.

I grew up in a small country town

where we didn't even lock our doors.

The crime rate was non existant back then.

Sadly that is not the case anymore.

Blue Lady Portrait

 I received a lovely birthday parcel

from the family in France.

My four old granddaughter

did this fun sketch for me....

I'm the blue lady!!!

I made this little Easter card for one of the girls

a few years ago.

I love the vintage image

of the little girl and her rabbit.

We're now in Holy Week with Easter

fast approaching.

Moments in my Week

This is the pretty card my friend Rose
sent for my birthday.
A heart shaped garland of hydrangea flowers,
gypsophila and berries.

My new watch - a present to myself!

I'm relishing every bloom my rose gives me
as Autumn approaches.
In past years I've had roses until the end of May.

a packet of yummy salted caramels from 
France.

New Zealand Summer Farm Fences

We've had a few trips away this Summer

and I take photos out of the car window

as we speed along the country roads!

If we stopped every time I see a photo opportunity

we would never arrive at our destination!!

On this particular pre-Christmas excursion

there was a lot of hay making going on.

Farmers were cutting hay, baling and wrapping it

quickly and efficiently while the weather was fine

just in case the weather changed.

Have you noticed that farmers talk a lot about the weather?

That doesn't surprise me as the weather determines

all activities on the farm.

The Louis Vuitton Cup

The Louis Vuitton Cup

was won by New Zealand on three occasions.

This yachting cup 

decided who would be the challenger for

the Americas Cup yacht race.

I took this photo back in 2013 at

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron

where it was proudly on display

in the trophy room.

My husband was a very keen yachtie

and has been a member of the club for over 40 years.

I snapped this photo on the same day.

It is the Roll of Honour of members

who lost their lives in

World War 1 and World War 2.
