Grey Dey Thursdey - Memories of France 2013

Have you heard
 there's a new linky party

 It's all about
grey
gray
gris

Michelle has listed seven adjectives describing grey
this is the one that resonates with me:

7.  ancient; venerable

a perfect description for these photos I took
in France in June/July this year.

Ancient silvered/grey wooden beams of the lavage

Everywhere I looked I saw grey
ancient
timeless

an exquisite  relief in a chateau

a sculpture of the little princesses.

Thank you Michelle for hosting this party
I'm a grey girl too!

Wishing everyone a very happy fun weekend!

A Favorite Thing.... making glue books

Before I left for France
I made a  few glue books.
This is one of my favourite things to do,
it's the child in me I guess!

I love cutting/tearing, painting and staining
paper, maps and cards
to give them a vintage look
before they are glued on to journal pages.

Sometimes I do this in the evening
while my husband is absorbed in the history channel!
Every now and then I see him
giving me a quizzical look
and I know what he's thinking....
isn't this what kindergarten kids do?
I ignore him and carry on!

I made this book as a birthday gift
for my friend

I left lots of pages blank so that
she could journal and
do her own thing.

You know me
I love a french theme!

I found this precious vintage card
at a village brocante
in France last year.
Delicate hand painted violets.
What a talent to paint like that.

If you would like to learn how to make a
Vintage Gluebook
I suggest you take Mary Green's class.
She will teach you her
vintage paper and glue style.
(With the book I made for Rose
I added fabrics and lace because that's what she loves)

Classes are only available until
30 September 2013
Class fee reduced to $17.50

Today I'm joining
another Mary of the blog Boogieboard Cottage for
Masterpiece Monday

Wishing you all a very happy week!

Note Card Party Time...

Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable mountains.

Hello dear friends
well here I am doing my first
blog post on my new laptop!

All these photos are from a post
way back in 2010.

Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps

Today I'm joining
for her August

An old farm track in the high country of New Zealand

Vee left me a comment on
my last post.
She said I could use that post
for this months NC party!

That was so kind of you Vee
but I wanted to have a play
with my new toy!

An original log cabin in Arrowtown

I've now got Windows 8
which I've got to learn.

I tried to do my usual Pixlr
borders on the photos
but for some reason it saved
the photos in a strange format
that I couldn't use...

Please pop over to Vee's
and see a lovely selection
of note cards.

Thank you all for keeping in touch
now I can enjoy visiting your blogs again!
A big welcome to my new followers

ALMOST BACK IN BUSINESS!

Springtime in Cornwall Park

Oh my goodness
I never imagined it would take me
so long to decide on a new computer..

..but I needed to be sure that
what I bought would tick all the boxes
for my diverse needs.

I told my computer man
what I wanted to do
and he came up with an
HP TouchSmart Sleekbook
that he has tweeked to give
me super-fast net surfing
and also do my business accounts.
I pick it up tomorrow
so I'll give you a quick preview then!

Isn't this little one adorable?

I'm so appreciative to everyone

who stopped by.
Thank you for your advice,
suggestions,
telling me about your set-ups
and all your encouraging words.

I knew if I put out the call
my dear bloggy friends would respond!

I weighed up the pros and cons.
Those of you who recommended
I stay with a laptop
for my business + blogging needs
YOU
were right!!!

THANK YOU

I'll be back in business tomorrow
and hope that I'm not too late
to join in
Vee's Note Card Party!

TABLET OR LAPTOP - I would appreciate your input

I'm quite keen to update my old laptop
with a tablet.
This Samsung tablet has USB ports
plus the added advantage of a
separate bluetooth keyboard.

...but it's more expensive than
a conventional laptop!
My requirements are
blogging (of course)
but I also do the bookwork
for my husbands business...

The store I visited
had hundreds on display....
I'm confused!

Please tell me how you operate
especially if you run accounts as well.

I can't wait to get back
in the swing of things!

My laptop is in hospital....

Hello everyone!

Just when I recovered from jet lag
and began to feel human again
I decided to sort my photos and do a new post....

Sadly that wasn't to be as
my laptop nearly died...
she's now in the
computer hospital
undergoing tests
and then will be operated on - or not
depending on what the specialist decides...

I'm a total wreck!
For three days I've had no access
to the internet so I haven't been able to visit you!
Has this happened to you
and did you have withdrawal feelings too!

I should hear by tomorrow
what the diagnosis is.

My dear son has lent me his laptop
today just so I could put you all in the picture!

Meantime I'm cleaning my house
(surely you are blinded by the sparkle!)
and trying to find my garden
among the weeds.

I can't wait to share more photos with you
and get into the swing of
blogging life again!

MEMORIES OF 2013 FRANCE TRIP....

It gets harder and harder each time
I say 'au revoir' to my
french family.
I had the most wonderful six weeks
and shared many precious moments...

The girls and I made special cup cakes
on my last day

After a 33 hour trip home
I'm feeling jet-lagged
and naturally a little sad...

so I'm leaving you with a few
images of happier moments!

collecting raspberries
on her way up the garden -
as you do!

THANK YOU

to my dear friends
Dagmar, Mary, Suzy and Carolyn
for your sweet
'welcome home'
messages -
that means so much to me!
