Sunshine through my window

I found beautiful sunshine on my window sill
when I came downstairs this morning!
This is the cup I use for my first coffee of the day
it's  Terre e Provence which I bought here at
La Cigale - you can see a previous post on
La Cigale Market here

I bought this pretty tile from Monsieur Bricolage
(the hardware shop in France)
I'm collecting tiles to create a splashback wall area
behind the stove top in the kitchen.
Another project on my "to do" list
to complete and tick off this year!

Also on the bench is a pot of basil and an aubergine
sitting in front of my recipe book holder.
I've been cleaning out my cookbook cupboard and
I found a recipe to use from this old cook book.

Annabel Laingbein is a New Zealander
she is a cook, food writer and has made
a series of foodie videos and recipes called
The Free Range Cook
and
Through the Seasons
which have been shown internationally.

What I like is that she uses fresh seasonal produce
you can grow at home or find at
your local stores.

Have you seen her series on TV where you are?

The photo on the right is what I'm making for supper this evening
"Grilled Aubergine and Zucchini"
which I will eat it with a salad.
It's delissimo!
My husband doesn't like either of these vegetable
so he will have steak and whatever I can throw together!
Let me know if you would like the recipe
and I will email or post it to you.
I realise these vegetables are out of season
in Europe and North America just now
but you might like to try it in Spring/Summer.

I'm looking forward to catching up with
Karen for Sunlit Sunday
Cindy for for Amaze me Monday
Judith for Mosaic Monday
and Stephanie for Roses of Inspiration

Take care and
be kind to one another

à bientôt

Our Friendship Spans the Oceans....

My heart skipped beats recently....
when I arrived home from work  to find a parcel
waiting for me by the front door!
Not just any parcel I might add
but one that had crossed oceans to get here.

I was elated when I read the sender's name...
my dear friend
Mary
of
A Breath of Fresh Air

My heart was 'all a flutter'
as I knew I was in for a treat!
I posted about Mary's previous parcel here

When I found Mary's blog a few years ago
I knew I had found a soul mate
who enjoyed many of the same things as I do.

We both share a love of France and all things french
we also both have family living there.

Mary has a love of life which the French call

Joie de Vivre

She is an inveterate traveller and enthrals us all
with her amazing photography and interesting narrative
of  her overseas trips with her husband Bob and friends.

One thing is certain
Mary and Bob will never be short of conversation
when sitting in their rocking chairs on the verandah!

I think I can hear a little voice in my ear...

....what's that? me in a rocking chair.... NEVER!
ha ha!!!!!

Mary dear
you know just what I love...

Vintage Notions

the exquisite vintage buttons and spools of cotton,
ribbons and hand made tatted lace
vintage cards including the one above
 and lovely old postcards.
I love everything.

Merci,

Never let it be said that distance is a barrier to friendship.

Grow Your Blog Party & My Giveaway 2015

Welcome to the third
Grow your Blog Party
hosted by Vicki of 2 Bags Full.

Thank you dear Vicki for hosting
this amazing annual event
to bring together bloggers
from around the world!

For first time visitors to my blog
let me introduce myself!
My name is Shane and I live in
Auckland, New Zealand.

Yes I live in Auckland but....
my heart is in a little village in France
where my family and grandchildren live!
If you love France too
then we will have much in common
as many of my blog posts have
a french flavour... a certain
Je
ne
sais
quoi

I have been travelling to France for years,
and I love everything about it

who doesn't dream of a weekend in
Paris

but it's rural France I love the most.

Photography
has become one of my favourite
pastimes since starting my blog.
French villages are known for
their beautiful old houses and barns,
windows, doors, gates, fences
and little country lanes to photograph!

My family are now used to me lagging behind
when we're out and about!
I simply can't pass up a
photo opportunity!

I have a very basic 'point and shoot'
Panasonic lumix camera.
I have learnt so much through Donna
thank you my dear friend for
passing on your wealth of knowledge.

I join several weekly and monthly blog parties
including these ones
Mosaic Monday
Tea Time Tuesday

Tuesday Cuppa Tea
Friends Sharing Tea
Roses of Inspiration
Wednesday Good Fences
Sunlit Sunday

We would love you to join us!
People post about all sorts of things
recipes, crafts, books worth reading and so on.
If you are a new blogger
this is a great way of making new friends
and increasing your followers.

I’m a gardener

My time spent in my garden
is one of the things I love most of all,
whether it's weeding and nurturing plants
or simply doing my garden walk each morning
with a cup of tea in hand
to see what's new each day!
It grounds me and prepares me for
my work day ahead.

Swaps
I also enjoy taking part in swaps!
I've been part of groups
that swapped lace and buttons
tea cups, magazines!~

...and then I love to
Create
I enjoy making little books, cards
and bags for my grandies
using fabric, lace and paper.

I work three days a week and when time permits
I also enjoy making collage pieces
such as the one below which I created for my

Giveaway
for

Grow Your Blog 2015.

I will draw the winners name on
February 15th 2015 and post on my blog
Bonne chance everyone!

French Shutters and Flowers

There's something I love about
opening my shutters in the morning and letting the light in...

... the same goes for the evening
when closing the shutters is like saying goodnight
to the world!

Everywhere one goes in France there are shutters -
in small villages

and in big ones too like Paris.
Shutters are everywhere and the same goes for flowers.
Even the large apartment buildings always seem
to have window boxes beautifully planted
with seasonal plants.
Shutters are part of what we all love about
french architecture.

I'm joining Judith for Mosaic Monday
why don't you come and join us

Thank you for your visits

Take care and
be kind to one another

La Cigale French Market

We have many great foodie markets in Auckland
one of my favourite ones
is the La Cigale french market in Parnell.

There are many outside stalls
with seasonal vegetables and fruit
plus wonderful cheeses, artisan breads, paella etc

Inside their large warehouse

La Cigale have a cafe and bistro
with traditional french food and wines.

Best of all they have the most delicious
pâtisseries like éclairs, profiteroles, sweet tarts

and macarons, not good for the figure I know

but sometimes they are completely irresistable!

I'm joining Mary for Mosaic Monday

Thank you all for your visits and comments

Take care and

be kind to one another

  Merci à bientôt
