My March Memories

March 2016

These are the memories I want to share

firstly

with my family overseas,

and also with you my dear blog readers,

a few little snippets

of our life over the past month.

We attended a wonderful celebration for

the marriage of

Claudia and James

on

12 March 2016.

That was the same day as my husband's birthday

so a double celebration for us!

Thank you for your visits.

I am behind with my visits to your blogs

however, at last I have a

relatively free weekend,

so I'll be over to see you in the next day or so!

Take care and

be kind to one another

Epsom fences

Last Thursday I joined two friends for lunch at
 Little Jimmy's
a new cafe at Greenwood's Corner
to celebrate my recent birthday.

On the way home this brick wall caught my eye
and I couldn't resist stopping
to take a few photos.

I hope you like them.

Views of Auckland Waterfront

With the lovely weather over Easter
we visited the waterfront and viaduct harbour.
There were a few clouds about
but with the temperature at 28°C
we had an enjoyable walk.

It's now early Autumn and in a month or two
the days will start to draw in.
This weekend on Sunday 3rd April
Daylight Saving finishes.......
I'm thankful for such a magnificent summer
it has truly been one out of the box!

Wishing everyone, everywhere
your best summer ever too!

I'm joining Gemma for Ruby Tuesday Too
&
Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer for

~Happy Easter~

Happy Easter

dear friends!

Easter Sunday has been
a beautiful early Autumn day of 26 degrees C here.

As most of you know both our children
are living overseas....
it's at special times like Easter and Christmas
that we miss them the most.

We've just had a long conversation on the phone
with our daughter and granddaughters in France,
before they attend
the Easter service at the Cathedral.

We're hoping by this time next year they will
be with us for Easter in New Zealand!
I can hardly wait!

I hope you all enjoy your day with
Family
and

Friends

I'm joining Karen for her last

for this year
Thank you Karen

I'm also joining Judith for Mosaic Monday
and
Bernideen for her BTTCG party
Thank you both for hosting!

City Fences

I took these photos with my phone
on a stunning late summer afternoon.

We are seeing more and more security gates
protecting homes and the people who live in them.

Sadly it's the inevitable result of increasing population
and higher density housing
in a growing city of 1.7 million people.

I grew up in a small country town
where we didn't even lock our doors.
The crime rate was non existant back then.
Sadly that is not the case anymore.

Blue Lady Portrait

I received a lovely birthday parcel
from the family in France.

My four old granddaughter
did this fun sketch for me....
I'm the blue lady!!!

I made this little Easter card for one of the girls
a few years ago.
I love the vintage image
of the little girl and her rabbit.

We're now in Holy Week with Easter
fast approaching.

Moments in my Week

This is the pretty card my friend Rose
sent for my birthday.
A heart shaped garland of hydrangea flowers,
gypsophila and berries.

My new watch - a present to myself!

I'm relishing every bloom my rose gives me
as Autumn approaches.
In past years I've had roses until the end of May.

The April copy of New Zealand House and Garden
and
a packet of yummy salted caramels from
France.

Early morning walk on Kohimaramara beach.

I'm joining
Amy for Five on Friday
Karen for Sunlit Sunday
Judith for Mosaic Monday
Bernideen for BTTCG
and
Stephanie for Roses of Inspiration

New Zealand Summer Farm Fences

We've had a few trips away this Summer
and I take photos out of the car window
as we speed along the country roads!
If we stopped every time I see a photo opportunity
we would never arrive at our destination!!

On this particular pre-Christmas excursion
there was a lot of hay making going on.
Farmers were cutting hay, baling and wrapping it
quickly and efficiently while the weather was fine
just in case the weather changed.

Have you noticed that farmers talk a lot about the weather?
That doesn't surprise me as the weather determines
all activities on the farm.

I'm joining Tex for Good Fences
and
Eileen for Saturday Critters

Thank you all for your visits
I'm hoping to visit you all this weekend,
however it is my birthday on Saturday so there could be other plans afoot!

Five moments in my week

This week an exciting parcel arrived from
our family in France
it included a box of very yummy
cherry liquor chocolates.

One of my work colleagues is being
married tomorrow.
The reception is in a marquee
set up on the tennis court
at her parents lifestyle block.

Last night I picked a huge bucket of
hydrangeas which will decorate the
entrance to the marquee.
Originally one of these bushes
was white and the other blue
but we are in late summer/early autumn now
and I love the way their colour changes
reflecting the season.

March 1st is the beginning of our
Bluff oyster season.
We had our first taste at the weekend
I served them au naturale on fresh grain bread
they were so yummy.
Are you an oyster lover like me?

My dear friend Jennie and her two children
Annie the labradoodle and Mollie her rescue cat
are moving out of Auckland to live in
another seaside city - Tauranga.

She stayed with us the night before she left.
As you can see by the photo above
Annie entertained us as she watched
Animal Planet!
She is hilarious and almost tries to get
inside the tv set!
I will miss the three of them so much.

My first Autumn/Winter plant catalogue
arrived in the mailbox last week.
One of the bulbs I wanted to order this year
is Muscari Peppermint, however I went on to
the website today only to find this one
is already sold out - I'm so disappointed.
I'll phone some nurseries over the
weekend and see if they have them available
fingers crossed I'll be in luck!

I'm joining Amy for Five on Friday
Tanya for Willy Nilly Friday
and

Thank you ladies for hosting!

Thank you my friends for your visits and comments during the week.
