June Note Cards & Vicki's Giveaway

The 3rd Wednesday of the month is

traditionally

Vee's Note Card Party.

So in due fashion I prepared my little post

with a cat and bird theme - a little weird I know...

but my grandies will love these note cards!

So tonight I popped over to Vee's blog

to check that I have the right date

only to find that the next

Note Card Party isn't happening

until September......

Oh well I decided to go ahead and share mine anyway!

Vee probably told us about her plan

and I just wasn't listening that day!

MAY NOTE CARDS

I love Vee's Note Card Party

and I usually have my post prepared in advance.

I've been working a lot lately therefore the

the usual standards are slipping somewhat!

My organisation has flown out the window

so please forgive me Vee for arriving late to 

your party!

The first two Note Cards are the type of cards I create

from time to time to send to my daughter

and darling granddaughters in France

so they can see what our home and garden

look like at various times of the seasons.

The third Note Card just happened!

I love taking photos of doors, gates and windows
these were from Summer in France 2013.

After I created this collage

the words just came to me!

Summer in France - April Note Cards

My theme for my April Note Cards is

Summer in France.

I took these photos on my trip last Summer.

They have happy memories for me

of languid days enjoying the

company of my precious family.

We made lots of day trips

visiting pretty little villages

where at first glance time had stood still.

Life seemed idyllic.

These four photos I took in

the picturesque medieval village of

Noyers sur Serein.

It is inhabited by artisans.

I was told by one of the locals that many

of the inhabitants have left large cities

such as Paris and Lyon in search of

a simple life.

To the delight of the girls

a local cat accompanied us for part of our walk

around the narrow little streets!

They have had a rest day today.

Tomorrow they are visiting our Police College

and having their last "walk about"

to meet and greet people in Wellington.

Sadly they leave us at 1pm tomorrow

Wednesday bound for Australia.

They have been great ambassadors for

Her Majesty the Queen.

Note Card Party March

Great!

It's time for Vee's Note Card Party

for March 2014.

As you all know by now

I'm back working full time.

By the way that's great as it means

I have the opportunity to

save my pennies

to get back to France

to play with my darling grandies!!

It was this time last month that I started
back as a working gal!
I was so busy that I missed Vee's February party
so I decided to prepare my post
for the
March Note Card party
well in advance!

I'm sure those of you who visit my blog

more regularly will 

as they've all been on my blog before 

apart from the photo below of the

purple bouganvillea flowers.

I photographed this when I was in the

Bay of Islands recently!

The softly coloured purple leaves
are paper thin - so delicate
and beautiful
perfect for writing a note to my daughter.

She knows Russell in the Bay of Islands
really well...
our wider family have a wonderful
beach house where we have all
stayed and shared some
lovely holidays together.

Garden Note Cards

It's January Note Card time

As so many of you are experiencing
freezing conditions at present
I'm taking you outside for a dose 
of warm summer air and sunshine!

To 'smell the roses' so to speak
and to bring back memories of those
languid days of Summer.

I want you to smell the heady fragrance of
roses, lavender, alyssum, and thyme.
When you finish reading here
maybe you will spend some time thinking of
what you would like in your Spring garden.
Look through seed/plant catalogues or
magazines for inspiration!
I spend many happy hours doing just that
through our long Winter months.

December Note Card party

It's time for Vee's

December Note Card Party.

I've decided to take you back to

Château de Fontainebleau
in
France

I would love to visit the château again

during winter, most especially at

Christmas time

as I imagine there would be magical touches everywhere!

 The opulence of the exquisite rich

silks used in tapestries, wall coverings,

curtains and upholstery made a huge impression on me.

I've always had a love of textiles and these are

the crème de la crème of what was made at that time.

Many pieces were commissioned by Marie Antoinette.

The great artists, designers, weavers and embroiderers

of the day have left their mark forever in

this most magnificent château.
