My new rose Munstead Wood bred by David Austin
As I'm writing this post it is late afternoon on
St Valentine's Day.
A special day to say
I'love YOU.
It has become a day for giving someone special
in your life
a bouquet of Red Roses
or
a box of Chocolates
This is the biggest day for flower shops
and the post popular order is
a bouquet of one dozen red roses.
This was a birthday card I received last year but wouldn't it make the perfect Valentine card!
My husband wished me a
Happy Valentine's Day
this morning.
We don't go overboard on these commercialised days
sometimes he will buy me a box of chocolates
and I might make him a card
however this year
there are no choccies as we are both watching
our respective waistlines.....
With clear blue skies
I've been busy in the garden all day
so I haven't had time to make a card.
We're very low key compared to some of our friends
We feel we don't need chocolates or cards
to say "I love you",
we both know we love and appreciate each other!
I'm joining Karen for Sunlit Sunday
Judith for Mosiac Monday
Bernideen for BTTCG
and
Stephanie for Roses of Inspiration
Thank you all for popping in to say hello
Take care and
be kind to one another
à bientôt
Shane
Happy Valentine's Day, Shane. Ours is not quite here and yours is almost over! I was surprised when my husband brought home a dozen red roses this afternoon, for we don't always celebrate in that way. The roses look beautiful in a crystal vase in the living room.
ReplyDeleteThe card you received is lovely. Roses are hard to beat in any form.
It is still the eve of Valentine's Day here and The Great Dane and I are spending it in the best way we can imagine - babysitting our two wee granddaughters so that their Mummy and Daddy can go to a dinner dance. There is no bouquet or box of chocolates to compare with the two sweet girls and their smiles!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, dear Shane!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunlit Sunday, Valentine's Day and Mosaic Monday! :)
Marvellous photos - what could be lovlier as a day in the garden...
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day from snowy Germany
Lovely roses. The Valentine's Day just starts here, it is morning... My best Valentine's wishes to you Shane ♥
ReplyDeleteJust having breakfast in RAINY France. No roses or chocolates here either.and like you we say 'I love you' or similar affectionate words to each other everyday, so why waste money on a card. I must tell you this, there is a BBC radio programme on every Sunday morning that we listen to. and the public phone in a request for the presenter to read out a message to their husband /wife tsay tell him /her that I love him/her & I answer the radio with 'tell him/her yourself' Now what a beautiful post this one is, full of roses which I love, and how I long to be out in the garden all day. Those pink roses are something special. I would like to buy another pink one for our proposed new flower beds, can you recommend a bush rose that blooms for a long time, or your favourite ? happy Valentines day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful roses Shane, and Happy Valentine's Day to you my dear. We also passed on the chocolate this year, but I did receive some red roses and other blooms. Lovely. And of course, we exchanged cards for our own private amusement :) xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely Valentine post.

ReplyDeleteA perfect sentiment! The loving is quite enough! Happy Valentine's Day!
Such a wonderful set of photos. Happy Valentine's DAY
ReplyDeleteHello Shane, your roses are just beautiful. Happy Valentine's Day! Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteI did get a beautiful bouquet of carnations from my daughter, Debra, for valentine's day. I sent cards to all my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Your post was very nice for this day. Have a blessed day and a happy valentine's day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you. Such a beauty filled post.
ReplyDeleteDearest Shane,
ReplyDeleteNo, we both are like you and your husband, just enjoying each other and we still had a stash of chocolate to enjoy with our tea. A blessing to share life's little pleasures and that should be enjoyed year round and not only during the way too commercial (like ALL) celebration of one day.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Happy valentine's day ....love Ria x ❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses! Happy Valentines! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Shane. I love your beautiful roses, all so pretty with the different colourations. Oh how I look forward to see colour in nature once again~
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so gorgeous, my sweetest Shane, I'm in love with them !
ReplyDeleteHope you had a beautifule Valentine's Day, filled with so much true love,
Dany
Sooooo love roses and can't wait for mine to bloom again. Your rose photos are beautiful! Mine are just beginning to show life.
ReplyDeleteYou made my day Shane with the collage of gorgeous roses. I usually get flowers or chocolate and this year wanted the sweets since I've been so good on my diet. All the walking in Florida is really helping too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, Shane!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous roses, Shane. I'm sure you had a lovely day on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate in the traditional way either - sometimes we might go out for supper, but most often not. This year I downloaded a heart and coloured it for my DH.
ReplyDeleteLovely roses you have shared, my Dear Shane! Just knowing you are loved is all you need in life. Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post, sweet friend, and your photos of the roses had me swooning :) I am so thankful for you and your precious friendship.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs and love to you!
Dear Shane:
ReplyDeleteThis post was one of the featured ones on my blog today! Thanks for sharing this beautiful breath of spring with of roses!
Oh, Shane! What a glorious selection of roses you've shown! I was listening to a commentary on the radio recently. It was talking about how much time some people spend trying to pack signs of love into one day of the year and end up waiting in crowded restaurants and so forth.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous roses! My husband and I usually don't do much for Valentine's Day either (although he did give me a box of yummy chocolates).
