Simple and stylish decorations
are what I love for this special season.
I have wonderful memories
of Christmas when I was growing up.
Times were tough back then
but our mother still made it
a very special time.
We all had fun decorating the house.
We made red, white and green
crepe paper streamers
which covered the entire kitchen ceiling.
It was simple
but I remember thinking how magical it looked!
children's handmade decorations
I'm more of the 'less is more' decorator.
We have a small tree quite simply decorated.
What about you?
I'm joining Michelle for the last
of the year.
Thank you Michelle for hosting.

Thanks for sharing your memories of Christmas as a child. I have a Christmas tree in every room of my home, They range from 12 inches to 6 foot. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteLess is more around here, too. Yet I was in someone's home recently that was full and lushly decorated and it felt lovely, too. Each of us has our own style. But for now, simple is what I'm loving.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely, showing the magic of grey and white.
Your decorations look beautiful Shane. Like you I am a more is less decorator as well. We bought a small tree too, which if full of vintage decorations.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

Lovely, Shane, The "pinecone" looking xmas trees are truly gorgeous.I too have very minimal decorations out, we are going away Boxing day and I like to stick to old traditions of taking xmas decorations down on the 12th night. Weird me.Really don't have much out at all but couldn't not show some festive spirit. Shirley
ReplyDeleteMy dear Shane,
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful collage you made, from your decorated home.
I love the little mitens and socks you hang in the "tree" and the christmas trees as well.
Oh I especially remember one christmas, where my younger sister and I had a wonderful doll, which could walk and close her eyes, where my mother had spend evenings sewing the most adorable little coats for them. I can see that doll for my inner eye, but sadly they are long gone.
Here m all white in decorating, untill Mathilde and Gustav arrives, then the tree will be filled with colours of all kind :-)
Warm hug,
Dorthe
Yes, crepe paper streamers - and did you make paper chains? I used to spend hours glueing those little circles together then draping them from the light fixture to the corners of the sitting room! We then just poked springs of holly behind all the pictures and mirrors, and on Christmas Eve put up a small table top tree with, God help us - and he did - real candles clipped to the branches which we actually lit!!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, the lovely memories we've lived to tell about, LOL!!!
Hugs dear one - Mary X
Lovely collage Shane. Wishing you a happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said, Shane. Christmas is much much more than presents.
ReplyDeleteGreat post !!!
Beautiful, grey is a lovely colour and it goes with everything:)
ReplyDeleteDearest Shane,
ReplyDeleteThe true spirit of Christmas for sure is not in a Christmas tree or lots of decorations...
Hugs,
Mariette
Such beautiful decor here friend! I love the story of your childhood Christmas memories! And the crepe paper ceiling is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorations are so very elegant. There is a peace about them that goes beautifully with the season.
ReplyDeleteEach year I think more for less would be just lovely and then I go overboard. How very pretty your greys are.
