Roses for the Philippines....

Hello dear friends
while I prepared my mosaics to join
Mary for her (not happening this week) party
Mosaic Monday
my thoughts were on the poor people in the
Philippines.

Typhoon Haiyan was one of history's
strongest recorded typhoons.
The scale of destruction is horrific
and has left 2.5 million people
in  urgent need of humanitarian relief.

My new rose Pierre de Ronsard

Like me I'm sure you've seen the
news reports on television.
There is dreadful suffering
my heart goes out to everyone,
especially to the little children.

Thank goodness aid is now pouring
in from all over the world.
So as you are enjoying your day
could I ask you to spare a thought
and a prayer for the people of the
Philippines.

Thank you for your kind comments.

(I've just re-read Mary's last post so I am now aware
there is no party this week - it's an age thing)!!!
Thank you dear Judith for reminding me!!

I am also mindful of the deadly tornadoes in
the American Mid West region.
There is definitely a strange weather pattern emerging,
I wonder if you are of the same opinion?

WELCOME
to my new followers - it's so lovely to meet you!

Merci à bientôt
be kind to one another!

Shane

  3. The news of the disaster is one of the reasons I feel I want to spend time quietly reaching out and I join with you in prayer for the people of the Philippines. Beautiful flowers, dear friend.

  4. Beautiful post and photos, Shane. The people of the Philippines are in my thoughts and prayers too. Such a terrible disaster. It's good to know that there are Canadian troops on the ground there helping out where they can.

And yes I pray for the people, suffering so much, that they will soon all at least have food and water, and a place to sleep.

  8. Absolutely praying for the situation to improve. We were happy to see children eating a hot meal on the news this morning. I pray that all needs will be met in the coming days, most especially for water and for food.

And I add the tornado victims in Illinois and Indiana here in the states. Much smaller scale, but so devastating.

  10. Lovely images. I heard about the devastation on the radio but don't watch the news or read the newspaper so I don't know the scope of the damage. It seems there are are lots of powerful storms all over the world right now. Hugs to you, Tammy

  11. Hello Shane
I guess you have figured out by now that Mary is not hosting MM this week. Sharing beautiful roses in honour of the people of the Philippines is a nice gesture on your part. Along with many others, I continue to pray for them daily and now we must think of our US neighbours too that have had tornadoes wreak havoc as well.
In Ontario we have had high winds since yesterday and many power outages, but nothing severe.
I hope you have a lovely week.

  12. Hi Shane and my heart felt sentiments are right there with your own. How blessed we are, and how unfortunate so many others. We are to be thankful and yet it can be most difficult when we realize so many lost it all, inclduing life itself. Your images are a blessing, as are your words. I forgot about no Mosaic Monday as well...

And I read Mary's post at least twice and still didn't see it --too much speed reading!

  16. Dearest Shane,
Well it is not a strange weather pattern but with the mass media we get it presented almost at the moment and that makes a very vivid and emotional impact on all of us! Which is good but also leaves us for days pondering. But in fact, statistically nothing has changed much, except that the population in such devastated areas mainly is highly increased.
So glad that our American navy ships and aircraft carrier were there right away. So much more is needed still.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  18. Dear Shane,

Lovely post and roses today and yes, my heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the poor people living in the Philippines. So sad to see so much suffering and devastation, it is the little children that tug at my heart.
I love your pretty Rose Pierre de Ronsard. Roses and Waiheke clay like soil do not work, have tried some and they don't do well.
    Happy WEdnesday
    hugs
    Carolyn

  21. Hello Shane,
It was so proud that Canada has sent aid as soon as possible, to get to the more Unreachable areas. Why is it that it always seems the poorest nations get hit the hardest with such disasters. my heart went out to all the families as well.
    Xo
