Moments in my Week

I think this must be Cotton Tail - don't you?!
Spotted through a fence on the way to
Sandspit at the weekend.

I'm at my happiest in the countryside
I'm not at all a city girl
in spite of living in the city
for my entire married life - 46 years
(on Monday 11th April)!

Our embroidery group met yesterday,
this is always a very relaxing day.
The picture above is a hint of Rose's next project
(Rose is the creative one in our little group).
These beautiful threads and silk ribbon will be used
to embroider a paisley design for a cushion!
I'll give you an update once she gets started!

We met at Thelma's
and she made us a delicious salmon salad for lunch with
fresh grainy bread - all very healthy.

For afternoon tea we had Madelines and
Apple Roses - both extremely yummy!
If you would like the recipe and 'easy peasy' technique
for making these Apple Roses
let me know and I'll email it to you
(don't forget your email address if I haven't got it already).

I subscribe to an email newsletter called
Bonjour Paris.
The latest issue arrived at my computer this week
One of the articles was about the
restoration of the Royal apartments at
Palace of Versailles.

Guerlain are taking orders for their
limited edition perfume called
Le Bouquet de la Reine.
The price will be... 550,00 € tax incl.
($921 in New Zealand dollars)
...just a tad over my budget
how about you?

I'm joining Mimi for Five Star Frou-Frou
Amy for Five on Friday
Nancy for Random 5 Friday
Tanya for Willy Nilly Friday
Cath for Fun Friday Favourites
and
Bernideen for BTTCG

Thank you everyone for popping in
I love reading your comments!

Take care and
be kind to one another

Gathering the Moments - May

May is all about birthdays in our embroidery group
as Rosie, Thelma and Mary
all have their special day!
Early in May we had lunch at La Forchette at St Heliers
to celebrate Rosie's special milestone birthday.

La Forchette is a french restaurant/cafe
where most of the staff appear to be french,
they have french accents
so that gives it an authentic french feel!
I think most of them are here
on a working holiday while seeing the world.

Photographing moments at home during May.
I've enjoyed watching Autumn come and go in my garden
and observing the way the light changes both inside and out.

These last images are from our embroidery
day at Mary's.
Good company, delicious food and
lots of interesting chit chat
together with some embroidery of course,
make for a great day with friends!

I'm joining Cheryl for her monthly meme
Gathering the Moments here
we would love you to join us and
share your May moments too!

I don't want you to miss out on Vicki's

Gathering the moments - APRIL 2014

This year is moving far too fast for me!

I've reached that stage in life
where I'm quite happy for time to stand still at times
so I can capture and fully enjoy the
very special moments
that make up the rhythm of life.
I want to commit these moments to memory forever
so in years to come I can look back and recall
I remember when.....

It was a month of of seasonal happenings.
We had Easter - our most important feast
in the Church's year
celebrating the Resurrection of
Christ our Saviour.

Then on 25th April - Anzac Day
commemorating the soldiers of the
Australian and New Zealand Army Corps
who fought in WW1 and WW2
side by side
in far away lands
for God, King and Country.

I'm linking to Cheryl of Thinking About Home
for her monthly meme

Wishing you all a very happy month of May.

Take care and

be kind to one another

  Merci à bientôt

'Seamist'

We bought this old classic launch last year
and my husband 'The Yachtie'  is restoring it...
a labour of love!
The interior has been ripped out and he is
more or less starting from scratch!
We know the hull has 'good bones'
so she was worth saving.
She will be re-launched pre Christmas 2014
in time for Summer cruising!

GROW YOUR BLOG PARTY & MY COLLAGE GIVEAWAY

Hi everyone, today I am joining

Vicki
who has the inspiring blog
"2 Bags Full"
for her 2014

Thank you dear Vicki for continuing to host
this wonderful event.
We are all so grateful for the time you
dedicate to helping others in all sorts of ways.

We love you Vicki
you are inspirational!
WELCOME

to everyone who pops in to say hello to me
it's lovely to meet you
 and

most especially if you are visiting my blog

for the first time and as part

of the
GROW YOUR BLOG

party!

Let me share with you a little about me and in return I will
visit your blogs and do the same!
It's a great opportunity for us to meet new people and learn a little
more about what others are doing in our world.

My husband and I having fun in the snow in France!

My name is Shane and I live in New Zealand.
My blogging life began in April 2010
when my original reason for doing so was to share my
day to day life with our daughter who lives in
France.
However, she doesn't have time to 'play' on the computer
as she has a young family and is a very busy mum!

So the upside was that I started meeting a
whole bunch of new friends - lovely bloggy girls
who had similar interests to me.

We share our interests and find common ground.
With some it goes even further and
we meet up in person when possible!

I will start off by telling you....
 I'm a  Francophile
France is in my blood
(well not literally or by parentage)
but I've always been drawn to all things french.

So if you have those tendencies too
then we are going to get along fine!
I visit France most years to see my family
(my daughter happened to marry un homme français)!!
....truly, I promise I didn't coerce her!

 anyway on with the story...

  while I'm in France
I love to visit the village brocantes/vide-greniers.
I'm always looking to add to my collection of vintage
linens and lace and other pieces I can use in the
collages, tags and books that I love making.

It's awfully hard to find these things in New Zealand
and I'm so envious when I visit your blogs
and see the "stash" you've acquired on
your thrifting jaunts!

I'm also very much a home girl
I love my garden and can be found there most days
just pottering about.

So that's enough about me!
I'm off to the party
so I can meet you all too!

Please take a moment to enter my giveaway
if you are interested.

MY GIVEAWAY
I have designed and created a sweet collage for you!
Using some of my treasured pieces of
vintage fabric, laces and trim
from my collection
some of which I bought when I was in France.
It's pretty and feminine just what I love!

The sweet little crochet butterfly was given to me
by my bloggy friend Karen of Todolwen blog.

I've created a little pocket on the reverse side which
I am filling with treasures including
buttons, tags and surprises!
I'm addicted to pockets too!

TO ENTER
Please leave me a comment on this post.

There are no fixed rules

so you don't have to be a follower to enter
(although naturally I would  love you to
become one via Google Friend Connect
so I can grow my blog)!

Leave me a comment and you are in the draw!!!

As with all the Giveaways at this party
the draw will be on
Saturday 15th February.
I will post the winners name on that day.
Bonne chance mes amis!
Please make sure I can contact you
via your blog or email.
If you don't already have a blog
then please write your email address in your comment.

Dear Vicki
Thank you again for giving so much
to so many people.
You are indeed one of lifes real
TREASURES.

I'm joining my friends for
Mary's Mosaic Monday party here
You might like to join us!

I'm looking forward to visiting you all.
