My talented Aunt

My 91 year old Aunt Josie
has always sewed beautiful things
for the benefit of the
Save the Children Fund.

"These are a few of my favorite Things"

She belonged to her local branch
which involved a group of like-minded
kind souls who made various
useful items which they sold at
their local Save the Children shop.

Aunt Josie made many pretty
patchwork bags like these ones
which she still has at her home
hanging on door handles!

There are many wonderful people in
every country across the world
who use their talents and
give their time to help
raise funds for various
aid organisations.

Very few of them get the recognition
they deserve.
Yet little by little their efforts
help people in need all over our
World.

A beautiful bag made up of tiny hexagonal pieces
was made by my cousin Jane (Josie's daughter)
for her mother's 90th birthday.

  2. Good Morning Shane, What a talented lady, your Aunt Josie is. As you say there are lots of sewing groups who beaver away with their sewing to donate to charities. I belong to a sewing group and we are currently making a quilt to donate to a Cancer Hospice.
We all enjoying the sewing process and it is lovely to know it is going to a good home.
The little hand made hexagon bag is just so sweet and such a lovely gift.
    Best Wishes,
    Daphne

  10. Shane, that is a wonderful organization! I gave a number of ties with children's drawings on them to the men in our life for Christmas. I agree, your aunts bags are wonderful, and so is the one that your cousin made for your aunt's 90th birthday. I love the colors and the design. It's so neat!

  15. What a talented Aunt you have Shane - her bags are just beautiful & I adore that little hexie purse at the end. When I am making some items I make extra's & give to my local Animal Care Shop to sell & the money goes to caring for the many animals they take in to re-home. Its kind of like an S.P.C.A. shop. Happy weekend, Julie :-)

  16. Dearest Shane,
Could it be that this is genetic? You too create lovely things but for your aunt at her age, it is remarkable what she has all done and for a very worthwhile cause.
    Happy Pentecost!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  32. Oh wow! Your aunt's work is amazing. (And I can see that talent runs in the family :) So lovely that she created for a good cause. I had a friend whose grandmother quilted well into her 90's even though she was legally blind. I have some pillowcases that she crocheted an edging for. Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

  33. You're a very creative family! I love hand-made bags. My daughter-in-law often gives me gifts made by a friend who uses beautiful scraps of material and embroidered items. They are very special, especially when they raise money for good causes.
