To market, to market, to buy....

To market, to market
to buy a fat pig delicious home grown goodies....
Home again, home again
Jiggety jig!!!

When my dear friend Carol was out from the UK
in May last year
we visited the Matakana Market
which is an hours drive north of Auckland.

It was late Autumn so the pumpkins and other earthy vegetables
were at their best.

Are you aware that most people in the UK and France
think of pumpkins only as animal fodder?
Kiwis on the other hand can't imagine
the quintessential Sunday roast of
lamb, beef or chicken without roasted pumpkin and potatoes!

Are you a pumpkin eater like me?
I know my North American friends are pumpkin lovers!
If you have a favourite pumpkin recipe
would you like to share it with me?
You can tell me here when you comment and
then email the recipe and I will send
you one of my favourites in return!

The crepes here are delicious
but the queue was far too long for us to wait
so we headed off to the coffee stall!

Some enterprising girls have set up a
dog minding stall
so visitors can do their shopping in peace.

It's a marvellous idea, as the day we were there
the market was unbelievably crowded
 wall to wall people
and I'm sure the dogs enjoyed their time out
(I wished I had been a doggy that day
as I don't like crowds or queues)!

Their are some interesting shops to peruse in the village too
and naturally I spent a while in the bookshop.
Oh and there's a really good shoe shop too!

This week I'm joining

Eileen for Saturday Critters

and

and she is currently caring for the beautiful Purl
whom you'll meet when reading her blog!

Gathering the Moments - July

Most of my moments during July were filled with
long days at work, however I got out and about
most weekends.

The best part about July was when
friends of mine visited my family in France!

It was wonderful to get some first hand news
on their return and see new photos...
oh how those three girls have grown.
In the centre of the above mosaic you can see
 my youngest grandie
and on the right the butterfly wings I sent her.

...and I also popped into my fave patchwork shop and bought
a couple of fat quarters.
I'm a fabricholic - is there such a word?!

We went up north one weekend for a lovely wedding.
My husband is still beavering away restoring the boat.
There was some baking and of course a few walks.

I sometimes buy veges at a market garden nearby.
Hardly a month goes by when I don't visit
the garden centre - I'm addicted to them
and they're always good for a photo!
Lobelia and sweet Heartsease in my garden pots.

I'm joining Cheryl for her monthly meme
why don't you join us and show us what you've
done in July!

Take care and
be kind to one another

  Merci à bientôt

La Cigale French Market

We have many great foodie markets in Auckland
one of my favourite ones
is the La Cigale french market in Parnell.

There are many outside stalls
with seasonal vegetables and fruit
plus wonderful cheeses, artisan breads, paella etc

Inside their large warehouse

La Cigale have a cafe and bistro
with traditional french food and wines.

Best of all they have the most delicious
pâtisseries like éclairs, profiteroles, sweet tarts

and macarons, not good for the figure I know

but sometimes they are completely irresistable!

I'm joining Mary for Mosaic Monday

Thank you all for your visits and comments

Take care and

be kind to one another

  Merci à bientôt

Clevedon Farmers Market

A visit to a farmers market
is one of my favourite
weekend things to do.

The lavender lady's stall
is full of things I love.
I bought several bits and bobs.

Pony rides were popular
with the children

I made a new friend.
I would love to have taken
him home with me!

Who could resist a packet
of these seeds, now I can't
wait for next Summer
to see their blooms!

Fresh buffalo mozzarella
looks so yummy!

Another new friend I made
 was the image of
chef Rick Stein's
faithful friend
Chalky!

We enjoyed the lovely family
atmosphere at the
Clevedon farmers market.

Today I'm linking to
A Favorite Thing Saturday
and to
Sunlit Sunday
and to
Mary's
Mosaic Monday

Thank you all for your comments

Be kind to one another
