Glimpses of Spring 2018

Spring
is
waking to the sound of birdsong each morning
and
looking out through my kitchen window
to see my garden coming alive again!

Spring
is
Rosebuds unfolding into
beautiful blooms

Spring
is
Cherry blossom trees in the park
and
carpets of petals beneath the trees.

Wishing
you all a happy and enjoyable weekend
in your little corner of the world!

Take care and
be kind to one another
à bientôt

Shane

    1. Thankyou Jeanie - I’ve missed you too!
I’m on Instagram, but it’s not the same....
With blogging I’ve met such lovely people, some have become good friends.
Yes I’m back and I will post at least weekly - I’m still working 3 days so life’s still about juggling and keeping those balls in the air!😘xx

  2. I love the dusty pinks of the roses! WOW! What a beautiful time of year there. We are having more 'end of summer' weather here in Florida. We don't really have Fall this far South. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Have you always lived in Florida Diane or did you move there on retirement?
      I know it’s a sub-tropical climate.
Thank you for visiting and leaving your comment🤗

  3. How lovely to remember what Spring is, in this dreary season of dark evenings and few garden flowers. Super photos!

  4. So lovely to see you had visited through the night my dear friend!
When visiting your lovely blog I was surprised to see many plants still in flower.
Just keep in your memory the exceptional summer 2018 has been in England.😘xx

  5. How beautiful- words and pictures. Our color palette in PA is now deep yellows, oranges reds, and earthy colors as it is truly autumn. Although I do wish it was spring so I'd soon be enjoying summer again each season does have its own beauty.

  6. Thank you Linda!
My favourite season is Autumn, so I would be quite happy to swap places with you in PA!! It's about putting the garden to bed, brisk walks wearing coats, scarves and boots.
Sitting by the fire reading or pondering (I do a lot of pondering in Winter)!!!
We're having awful windy, rainy days in between warmer ones.
It's great we're in contact on IG too. xxx

  9. We set our clocks back last night so enjoyed an extra hour snuggled under the duvet since it was a bit chilly early morning. Now the sun is brilliant and it will be a perfect autumn day. Spring is lovely, but I enjoy this time of year the best and, like you dear Shane, ponder often!!! Right now I'm looking at my treasures from NZ again, and today will spend afternoon with a cup of tea reading the Portuguese sonnets - thanks for such a delightful book - it doesn't have a date but I can tell it's definitely an antique, such as I am now, hahahahaha!!!!

Your flowers are lovely - my camellias are now blooming well and many buds cover the shrubs. I had two Peace Roses bloom during my birthday week - a good omen perhaps! My re-blooming azaleas are also in flower again - all these add some color to the autumn garden for which I'm thankful. I'm planning a little woodland walk with my camera later today as we are getting colors in the trees at long last - later this year with our crazy weather pattern.

Happy week ahead - hope the blustery weather calms down soon.
    Hugs - Mary

    1. Saying goodbye to Daylight Saving is always difficult but come Summer it means longer evenings to enjoy which is lovely!
I hoped you would enjoy 'Sonnets from the Portuguese' it was a book from my father's collection and as you have visited Portugal I thought you might like to read it!
Mary, are your azaleas the Mollis variety. I always admire the photos of them in your garden so if you know the names can you drop me a line with your suggestions. I know all about Roses especially the heritage ones but I know nothing about azaleas!

  11. Dearest Shane,
One bonus of having blogger friends in the opposite hemisphere, is that a second time one gets to enjoy the marvels of Spring!
Your photos are like poetry... Yes, it is about watching to see a garden come alive again.
Spring gives hope to us humans.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

Thank you for popping in and for your kind words.
I hope Pieter is much improved.
    Hug you back dear friend.

  13. Hello dear Shane,
How lovely to see you posting again. Instagram just doesn't seem to have the depth that blogging has. I've gone back and forth thinking about it.

Seeing your spring photos made me smile. Such lovely fresh colours and flowers when ours are all dying off. The heathery shades of autumn are beautiful, but there's little that can compete with the delights of spring. I know you must be enjoying your beautiful garden.

    1. I agree totally with your view on IG Lorrie and feel it is more a platform for young “social media” followers!
Yesterday I spent an enjoyable day in the garden - my happy place!
I planted four new roses and several new perennials.
I’ll take photos once they’re established and flowering!
Lovely to see your comment when I arrived home from work today.😘

  14. Such a glorious collage of beautiful pink blooms, dear Shane. You are so lucky to have cherry blossoms! I have never seen them, only in art. So happy you are back in blogland - I too prefer blogs to Instagram, although doing a little of both. Happy Springtime to you xxx

  15. Thank you Trish!
You’ll have to visit the southern highlands of NSW - like beautiful Bowral!
But Trish you have the Jacarandas - in my opinion they top the list of flowering trees.
Their beautiful lavender carpets on the ground are a sight to behold!
I’m in my happy place back blogging - finding comments appear here from old friends like you😘xxx

  16. Hello Shane,
I noticed that you posted again. It's Spring in your area and it looks lovely as ever. We are in the midst of Autumn, my favorite season. The flowers are pretty in your garden, especially the pink roses. The cherry blossom trees are always a sight.

    Wishing you happy November days.

    1. Thank you Marilyn!
I can understand what the first flowers of Spring mean to you especially after the bare white snowy landscape of Winter.
My favourite is Autumn but we don’t have snow in Auckland and we’re lucky to have camellias and other flowering shrubs and plants that keep going through Winter.

  18. Sigh. How I wish you could bottle some of that up and send it over here. Winter hasn't started in earnest yet but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love some spring!

    1. I’ve just heard from a friend down south and it is snowing down there. She has vegetables growing so she is brushing the snow off and covering them!
Weather is always unpredictable in Spring but the weatherman promises sunshine on Sunday!
I’ll catch some sunbeams and send them your way Ma!
