Summer in New Zealand
is all about simple and casual living.
The barbecue season is in full swing
it's such an easy way to entertain
family and friends.
Fresh prawns are always a good starter
followed by sausages, chops or steak.
Throw together a yummy salad
accompanied by a loaf of good crusty bread
and there you have it
an easy peasy - no fuss meal!
A couple of years ago
Robert Harris put out a few different
blends of coffee to celebrate
Summer.
I loved them but sadly I haven't seen them again...
maybe they weren't a money spinner.
I know many people are afraid of change
and don't want to take a risk...
a shame as these were a refreshing change.
“You can please some of the people all of the time,
you can please all
of the people some of the time,
but you can’t please all of the people
all of the time”.
President Abraham Lincoln

Hi Shane,
ReplyDeleteA nice summery collage and the food looks good! Here we are facing a tough winter in many parts of the country so its nice to see summer!
Hello Shane, and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove to hear you enjoying your summer. I will have to wait for more 8 months to enjoy a barbecue party with our grand daughter!Thank you for showing a great poem by President Abraham Lincoln. I like it. Hope you have a good day!
The quote made me smile. It was often quoted by my father who substituted the word "fool" for "please." I am so glad that summer exists somewhere. Enjoy those BBQs.
ReplyDeleteGrilling in the summer time is so festive. It always makes me feel like I am on a forever holiday.
ReplyDeleteSounds divine! Here in Michigan we're getting about 12" of snow today/night. They even closed the university! Your summer photos make me more than a wee bit envious!
ReplyDeleteYou are having a great time with such nice food. Wish you Happy and Prosperous New Year.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics Shane - did you get some rain yesterday as we did?? It was very welcome. I too, wish they still had that coffee as I wouldve loved to have tried it. Its a shame when they do that with new products. Have a great week dear Shane x0x
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to voice that quote quite often - I never knew it was from Abraham Lincoln. I wonder if she knew. You make a barbeque sound so easy Shane - it must be time we had another one here!
ReplyDeleteSummer time cooking is wonderful - as you've told us. Love the meat, bread and salad combination.
ReplyDeleteThese days we're more into soups and comfort food to stay warm. But your posts remind us that soon things will be reversed again.
Bonne semaine!
Happy New Year! You summer meal looks delicious. And easy sounds great to me.. Sorry about your favorite coffee, that happens to me a lot when I find something I really like.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day and week ahead.
You make me long for summer Shane, especially with a meal like you've described.
ReplyDeleteWe have a small table top propane BBQ in the garage for winter use - cold out there but hubby's happy doing his thing.

Wish it was summer here, it is bitterly cold. The coldest it has been in quite some time. The food looks delicious enjoy and think of us people that are in the deep freeze. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteBeautiful summer and wonderful meals,- it looks so yummy with the prawns, and the crisp potatoes, dear Shane.
ReplyDeleteI love trying new things to eat and to drink... and alwayes have some new products in my bag when leaving the shops..
Hugs,Dorthe
With a deep freeze going on here in the USA, it's nice to hear that it is warm somewhere in the world, LOL!
ReplyDeleteDearest Shane,
ReplyDeleteYou enjoy your summer and it warms us up a bit when looking at your photos!
Too bad for that coffee and President Abraham Lincoln was so right about pleasing all people all of the time...
Hugs,
Mariette
Happy New Year, Shane!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty collage and your menu sounds delicious for the perfect summer fare. What a surprise to discover that Abraham Lincoln first spoke those very wise words! I must be the only one in cyberspace who didn't know they were his! I always connected that saying with something a wedding planner might say!
Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week!

Yum! My kind of food! Sounds and looks yummy. Thanks for the touch of warmer weather. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and reading along. Warning - I tend to ramble at times. :)
I am not a cold weather person (I don't do extreme temps well), but this deep freeze blast has really hit hard. Looking forward to warmer temps and sunshine.
What a wonderful set of photos! Love to see that your summer is in full swing,
ReplyDeleteXoxo
