Wishing all my dear friends a
Happy New Year
2015
I found this sweet 'New Year' card
drawn by one of my favourite artists and writers
Beatrix Potter.
We had a wonderful Christmas
with my son and his partner who live in the country.
They cooked a turkey with all the trimmings!
My contribution was to make our starter
of smoked salmon with a cucumber salad
and a trifle with all the berries...
yes raspberries, strawberries and loganberries!
Remember it is summer on my side of the world
so it was a beautifully warm day.
Many New Zealand families have now opted
to have a barbecue with salads as their Christmas meal.
However for me Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas
without the traditional fare of roast turkey
cranberry sauce and all the trimmings!
I created this collage from the images
in one of my favourite books
Beatrix Potter A Journal.

Happy New Year to you Shane. Your Christmas sounds wonderful. We would probably opt for the BBQ if we lived where it is Summer during December.
ReplyDeleteYou sure hit a soft spot with me in sharing the art of Beatrix Potter. She is one of my favorites. Love her and her art.
A family Christmas is always comforting especially with a traditional meal. Although this year spending Christmas in Denmark with our son & his family it was a little different, but delicious. For me I don't really mind what we eat, it's just all being together, that's the cherry on the top. What a lovely collage you made , Beatrice Potter pictures are so lovely. Happy New Year to You
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pictures, Shane!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family all the best for the new year 2015!
What a sweet post, Shane. Like many of our generation I was raised on Beatrix Potter and adore her illustrations. The other day I stumbled upon the movie on TV, the one with Renee Zelweiger as Beatrix, where the drawings animate. So lovely and a beautiful collage and New Year card. Happy New Year to you too my friend across the Tasman. xxx
