I took these photos a couple of years ago
on a stormy, windy day.
We went out to meet the Volvo Race boats
as they entered the Waitemata harbour.
I'm linking to Donna for her
June Personal Photo Challenge.
If you are interested in photography
you will love seeing everyone's take on this topic.
Donna is a serious photographer and she
gives us lots of links to check out for
helpful tips on mastering our cameras.
We've had only one major storm in the last week
but it was at night - consequently no photos.
If I hadn't been working the next day
I would have driven down to the
waterfront where I'm sure there would have been
all sorts of debris to photograph!
My camera is a basic “Point and Shoot”
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 with a Leica
lens. It's been a clear and mild winter day here today
I spent some moments in the sun!
I hope you all can too!
Thank you for your visits and comments
Take care and
be kind to one another
Merci à bientôt
Dear Shane,
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the storm are wonderful - almost feels like you are standing right there on the boat. Looks very rough with all the big waves. Interesting that you use a Leica lens, have always heard they are the best.
We lost our power the other night from 9pm and did not come on again until 8 am - thank goodness for gas and candles - hope yours was ok.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and yes, go the AB's!
hugs
Carolyn
Wow, Shane, those first two photos are amazing, and could so easily be classical oil paintings. Wonderful! Happy weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat photos The sea looks wild I wouldn't like to be out there as I get easily sick. You must be in Auckland.
ReplyDeleteI am in chch. We don't get a lot of storms here.
Nice photos! The water definitely looks stormy, and so green. And the sails on the boats provide a hint of bright color through the gloom. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI can get seasick walking across my iwn floor...LOL! These definitely have a pitch and roll to them! Well done. Goad that you had some photos in your file. Odd, all our bad storms came in the night, too.
ReplyDeleteStormy weather at sea is a great addition to the challenge Shane. I wouldn't do well out in a boat with the water that rough.
ReplyDeleteDearest Shane,
ReplyDeleteYou were brave fro standing there and taking photos of a wild sea. That alone could make one dizzy and don't even think of all the people in that race... It would certainly make both of us looking GREEN.
Happy weekend to you and sending you hugs,
Mariette
Your photos are great the waves look very rough. Hope you gave a blessed day and great weekend. Madeline
ReplyDeleteShane these are so good! I can almost feel the wind in the first two!

Ohh, those are beautiful shots. I can almost feel the seaspray on my face and the rocking of the boat. I like the colours of the water and sky with the colourful sails and flags. Nice shots Shane!
ReplyDeleteI can almost feel the boat rocking with those photos! The choppy waves add great texture and the colorful sails give visual "pop" to the scenes! Thank you for participating once again, sweetie, and for your very kind support!
ReplyDeletewonderful photos Shane! I just wouldn't want to be on a boat during a storm-I don't even do well on a boat when the weather's nice:(
ReplyDeleteWow! These are great Shane. I just can't imagine why I am feeling a but nauseous?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, although they are a bit scary. I wouldn't want to be in one of those boats...that water looks very choppy! Great capture!
ReplyDeleteWow, Shane...I felt the stormy weather as soon as I caught a glimpse of that first shot! These are great pictures for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful photos, Shane, with so much movement in the waves - I can just about feel like I'm on the boat!
ReplyDeleteOh my Shane! .. I'm feeling sea-sick just looking at your pics but what great captures and I'm wondering if you were under cover or braving the elements.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to click over and take a look at Donna's Photo Challenge.

I love your stormy sea photos...especially the first one...like so much that I would frame them if they were mine. The green of the water draws me right in. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful photoes of the storm dear Shane .As I live close to the Baltic Sea I know how the weather influences on the water, and how dramatic it can look, just like here on your photoes.
ReplyDeleteHappy new week to come, Hugs,Dorthe
You must be a good sailor, Shane! You look as if you were in the thick of the stormy waters, but you capture the excitement of the moment going out to meet the other boats. A great story! Enjoy the moments of present sunshine and here's hoping you don't get more storms coming your way this week. x
ReplyDeleteThat stormy sea certainly captures the theme! nice shots!
ReplyDeletePretty scary Shane! It did make for some very dramatic photos, though.
