A couple of weeks ago I bought a bunch of tulips
at the supermarket.
Once the blooms opened, I was captivated by the
wonderful colours!
The red ones with yellow at the base of the cup
were so vibrant and fun - like colourful parrots!
I wonder if they are a strain of the 'parrot tulip'
that Mary of Little Red House has mentioned
before on her blog - I'm not sure, if you can
tell me I would love to know!
The pale creamy white with a cerise stripe
was beautiful too and the perfect foil for the loud red one!
I'm joining Liz for Fresh-Cut Friday
please pop over to her party
for a floral feast!
Thank you Liz for hosting!

Dear Shane,
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are so very pretty and love all the gorgeous colours.
I think that the Parrot tulip are more twisted and have an almost fringed petal, resembling the colourful feathers of the tropical bird of the same name.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend and are you going to be watching the game with the All blacks versus the English?
hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Shane,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise to see such beautiful tulip photos on your posting today!
ENJOY them, they are so lovely. They certainly look like parrot tulips.
Wishing you a blessed Pentecost weekend!
Hugs,

Some beautiful flowers here Shane! I don't think I've seen tulips that full before. They almost look like roses when you squint your eyes :)

Beautiful flowers and beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful flowers. Would liked to have picked up a bouquet of flowers when out today, but no bargains at the store where I went.
ReplyDeleteYour mentioning the giveaway reminds me, I have not had one in a long time.
I'm with Vee.....I love tulips but have never grown any. I am tempted to pickup a bouquet at the market, but my cats would tear them up or eat them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these vibrant blooms! Mildred
