2017 - Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
from Auckland where I live.

Wishing you all good health
and a safe and peaceful world
for each and every one of us to live in.

This year is very special for me as
I'm looking forward to the arrival of my French family
coming to live in New Zealand!
For me this will be a dream come true and
something that has been on my New Years wish list
for a very long time.😃

Here are the latest photos of
my granddaughters in Paris for
Christmas week

They visited Disneyland Paris

and Galeries Lafayette to see the Christmas Tree

and meet with Papa Noel!

For me the last six months of 2016 simply flew by.
My 2-3 days a week working
more often became 4 and sometimes 5 days
which sadly left me no time for writing blog posts.

However, I feel fortunate to be valued as a team member
in a young working environment!

With both of our children living overseas
I enjoy my contact with the younger generation.
I admire their 'can do' outlook on life
they all have dreams, plans and long term goals
and in today's market of higher salaries
life is good for them!

So here I am back in this wonderful world of
Blogging!
My goal is to post as time allows
I'm very much looking forwarding to rekindling
the wonderful friendships I've made while blogging
and I feel blessed to be part of this great on-line family!

Thank you to the special friends who popped in to say hello!

Please fill me in on what's happened, what I've missed
out on and any updates you think I should know.

Let me know if there is a new party you think I would enjoy
what books, CDs, movies you recommend not to be missed
special recipes you consider "must haves" and so on.
Whose had babies and grandbabies?

I'm way  behind the eight ball after missing 6 months here!!!

Take care and
be kind to one another

à bientôt

Shane

  3. Happy to see you Shane - you've been missed! How wonderful that your family is coming to NZ to live - you must be absolutely over the moon. I know I would be. You asked about monumental happenings in our lives - well, we had a brand new baby grandson born to our family way out west in British Columbia. We got in the car and drove across the country so we could meet him. Had a wonderful trip, but the best part was spending time with our son, daughter-in-love and our sweet new baby grandson. All the best to you in 2017 my friend - may it be filled with only good things for you.

  4. Oh, the BEST of new years for you to have your family moving home! We flew to TX to spend Christmas with my family, my brother's first in seven years because of prison time. It was special!

  8. What a surprise to see your blog pop up in my sidebar. You have been away a long time. I do hope that 2017 will be a very good one and that you will be able to post more often. That is definitely my goal. I got sidetracked so much last year, a bit of sadness when my youngest left home, and then the presidential election ... egads! I'm very happy for a brand new year, new opportunities, new adventures. Gosh, your grandgirlies have grown so much. So happy that they will be closer to you. Take care! Happy New Year!

  11. How wonderful to see your blog pop up again today, dear Shane. I have really missed it, the prettiest blog in town! And what happy news you have, the family coming back to live nearby, is the best thing ever. You will be so excited and making plans I am sure. You are a busy girl with all those working days, and it will be delightful if you return to blogging, and share the news of the girls. Our big news is our Canadian little boys have just visited for six whole weeks, having a good look at all things Australian. We will miss them so much, now they are flying home to Ottawa. We hope to go over at the end of the year.
Happy New Year, love and hugs to you and your family. xxx

  13. I have so missed your blog, so I welcome you back with Happy New Year wishes and great joy! How fun to have your family back close to you. I would be over the moon. (They really are so lovely -- and their Parisian adventures this holiday look so joyful!)

I'm glad you posted because when they changed our email program I lost many of my addresses. Well, I think they're there -- it's just a clunky address book until you start corresponding with someone and of course then the address comes right up! So, yay on that, too!

So thrilled you will be posting more often -- and visiting too, I hope! Happy New Year!

  22. Dearest Shane,
WOW, your dream is coming true as they move this year to New Zealand.
You still will have one of your children left living abroad but I know you will enjoy your granddaughters!
Can't believe that we are here already. We had a wonderful Christmas Midnight Mass with Mozart music, part of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, choir and organ. We drove the 4 hours to Florida to stay at the Hyatt Regency for 2 nights, coming back after stocking up on groceries at Costco, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market. But Pieter had a mild flu before we went there and he kind of escaped it but it hit me on the way home and I barely could help unloading before I hit the mattress. Too bad it turned into a bronchitis and now I'm back to good health again. Have not been biking for weeks as I did not want to risk any cold again. But we start soon with normal routine and may 2017 be a happy and healthy year for you and yours and all of us.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

PS I did post about the Mozart Mass: http://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2016/12/wa-mozart-composed-this-heavenly-mass.html
The most impressive Mass we ever went to. We don't celebrate the commercial Christmas part and as we are only the two of us, this was just perfect! No relatives here in the USA...
