New Zealand Summer Farm Fences

We've had a few trips away this Summer
and I take photos out of the car window
as we speed along the country roads!
If we stopped every time I see a photo opportunity
we would never arrive at our destination!!

On this particular pre-Christmas excursion
there was a lot of hay making going on.
Farmers were cutting hay, baling and wrapping it
quickly and efficiently while the weather was fine
just in case the weather changed.

Have you noticed that farmers talk a lot about the weather?
That doesn't surprise me as the weather determines
all activities on the farm.

I'm joining Tex for Good Fences
and
Eileen for Saturday Critters

Thank you all for your visits
I'm hoping to visit you all this weekend,
however it is my birthday on Saturday so there could be other plans afoot!

Take care and
be kind to one another

à bientôt

Shane

  5. Hello!:) Excellent drive by captures of the countryside with beautiful green fields that seem to go on for ever, with the characteristic hay bales, fences, and large herds of cattle.
I hope you have a very happy birthday and great weekend.:)

  7. Usually, I am giving belated birthday greetings so I am happy to wish you Happy Birthday early!
I love seeing your countryside. It could be many locations on earth so it is fun to realize that it is
New Zealand. Must be those ubiquitous hay rolls!

  10. I'm one of those farmers who can be weather obsessed! Love your pastoral scenes, especially the one of the dairy herd.

  11. Canadians talk a lot about the weather, too, and we're not all farmers! I had to laugh when I read your remark about not getting to where you need to be if you stopped every time you wanted to take a photo. I can certainly relate to that!

  18. The life of a farming community does indeed revolve around the weather. Both the old family diaries that I had published included a daily weather report. It was interesting to see how much the weather really hasn't changed overall, other than for the extremes we seem to get now. Very happy birthday wishes to you Shane!!

  23. Dearest Shane,
Oh with your climate and shortage of rain at times, the weather is of the utmost importance to farmers!
Lovely countryside photos and indeed, while traveling from A to B we have to keep moving.
Sending you hugs for this Holy Week and upcoming Easter.
    Mariette
