Irish Fences and Five on Friday

Behind the barrier at Dublin airport
a Scottish Highlander arrives
to cheer on his team at the annual
rugby game
Ireland vs Scotland.

The fence alongside Dublin's Liffey river
with the Halfpenny bridge

Our tour bus stopped at this shop
in the middle of the countryside.
It was jam-packed full of top quality
Irish linens, woollen jerseys and so much more.

I fell in love with a blue tweed jacket....
I dithered about and decided to leave it in the shop....
it was a hot Summer's day
and hard for me to envisage the cold Winter days back home.
Wouldn't you know, I've regretted it ever since
isn't that always the way - c'est la vie!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing a variety of fences from
Ireland!

I'm joining Theresa for Good Fences
and

Take care and
be kind to one another

à bientôt

Shane

  3. Great fence pix here Shane - and I loved seeing some of your Irish stops along the way. We plan to visit there late Spring IF we can get our act together - things are moving slowly BUT if we're hit with the expected severe ice storm tomorrow perhaps it will be a good day for planning as we won't be going far!

    Hugs - Mary

  4. Hello Shane - I had the same experience in Kashmir last April, I dithered about a proper genuine kashmiri scarf, it was expensive, but now I really regret that I didn't buy it.
Ireland is a lovely country to visit both the north and the south. For a little country it has so much to offer the visitor.

  7. Oh Rugby game Irish vs Scotland, how exciting. My kids are both on their father's side, and my son played rugby in school also. I love the kilts that the Scottish wear, especially the red plaid. What a pretty bride this is. Thank you for following us, Shane, and I'm following you now too.

  17. Perhaps an email to that shop might just end up yielding a jacket via mail order? Good luck.

  19. The Halfpenny Bridge is very pretty Shane; hope we see that. I had to Google Macken of Ireland, as it sounds very appealing. At Killarney I think? We must go there - my mother grew up in Killarney, Queensland! Thank you for the lovely glimpse of the Emerald Isle. xox

  21. Dear Shane,

I loved seeing your beautiful photos of Ireland and it is a place I would like to go and visit one day. My Fathers family were from Ireland and my Mothers from Scotland. Such fun with the match between the Scottish team and the Irish and wonder who won!
Shame about the jacket and do you think you could email them and see if you are able to purchase it?
Happy weekend and many thanks for the kind visit to my blog.
    Hugs
    Carolyn

  32. What lovely images of Ireland, especially that delicate white bridge. It's like a fairy tale setting.
There are a few items I wish I'd purchased when I saw them, too. Irish linen would be a weakness for me.

  39. Lucky, Lucky you to visit Ireland. It's the only country I've ever wanted to visit & so far the closet I've gotten is seeing it through photos like yours. - They were wonderful. That bridge fencing was so pretty & the pink flowers by the fence were delightful. - Sorry that you regretted not buying that jacket.

  41. I'm saving my pennies for my big trip to the UK and Iceland in July/ August so I can spend without too much dithering. I think there will still be plenty of things that I leave behind and regret.
