Château de Fleurigny

Travelling on the country roads in France
always brings lovely surprises.
Not too far from where our daughter lives
are several Châteaux worthwhile visiting.

Having said that we didn't actually visit
Château de Fleurigny
as there were only six of us on the day
and the minimum number to gain entrance was fifteen.
As it is in the middle of nowhere
it was highly unlikely we would find
another nine people to make up the numbers that day!

I was able to take a few photos and then we
moved on to another Château which I will show
you in a future post!

I've been away from my blog for two weeks
because of issues at work....

I was sorry to miss Donna's
"Still Life" Photo Challenge this month.
I've been out today taking loads of tree pics for
the November challenge!

I'll be catching up on visiting your blogs this week
and I'm looking forward to seeing what you've all been up to!

I'm joining
Judith for Mosaic Monday
and the girls at
Thank you to the hosts.

Take care and
be kind to one another

Merci à bientôt

Shane

  1. Hi Shane,

Such lovely countryside! The chateau looks beautiful, even the word 'chateau' makes me think of champagne, intriguing dinner parties and vast countryside.

Thanks for sharing and happy Sunday!

  2. Lovely photos (as always), dear Shane! Could there be something more fascinating than a French castle? Finland is a good place to live, but there is a serious lack of two very important things, castles and mountains! :)

Looking very much forward to seeing your next posts,

    Sara

  5. Now I'm curious as to why you had to have 15 to visit. It looks like a beautiful place. Sorry work has been so stressful--or at least busy.

  7. Good to hear from you again Shane! One of the first things I always had to do when visiting my family in France was to visit chateaux and churches. I never cease to be impressed by them and delight in turning down a road and discovering another hidden gem. Thank you for sharing:)

  11. That kind of architecture out in the middle of nowhere sounds like the perfect home to me! I'm not sure I'd be willing to share with strangers, no matter the size of the group, so it is nice the owners are willing to do so.

  12. How disappointing to not have enough group members to sneak a peak at the inside. . .your exterior photos are beautiful though. Happy Weekend~

  19. Don't you just love it when work gets in the way of the fun stuff (not!). The chateau is wonderful from the outside - maybe next time you go you will be able to find enough people to take the tour.

  20. Dear Shane, fortunately there are many chateaux in France. You will find another one! Groetjes from Holland,

  21. Thank you Shane, I've never been to France and I don't see it on my list of places to visit. I did enjoy visiting your castle and I've found a few along our trip this time. I think if I got that far I might ask a few people in the parking lot to join up as a group so we could all get in. Lovely pictures thank you

  28. Love the French country side and their chateaux. No problem you could not visit this one, there are so many....

  29. What an incredibly beautiful countryside!!!

  30. Gosh, it's photos like these that make me feel a bit gloomy about being in soggy Vancouver right now rather than a sunny French village...lol. Too bad about the 15 minimum. I know some grand homes in England also require a minimum group for entry. Oh well, win some lose some. Anyway, the country around the chateau is so lovely and very worth seeing.

  31. There's something to see around every corner in France, it seems. Delightful chateau seen from afar. I'd have gladly joined you to swell the numbers so you could enter.

Have a wonderful week, Shane. Don't work too hard.

  36. Very rich green, rich in natural beauty. This is what I like about countrysides...scenery always soothing tobthe eyes and soul.

  37. While a shame you were not able to get in, the grounds sure look exquisite, beautiful!
